Environmental and Energy policy in the United States is created in cooperation between the Federal and State Government and Regional Entities. In the past decade, the majority of innovation and creativity in the U.S. has occurred at the State level.

However, as demonstrated by the recent election, energy and environmental policy is fragmented and fractious. Given the diversity of States and the Federal Government, the issue remains whether a Federal policy is possible, or will the U.S. always pursue State and regional solutions.

The Seminar will be a conversation with Chairman Epel about the U.S./State model for energy policy, current developments in the U.S., and a discussion of the importance of State leadership as the new Administration rejects the Obama approach to energy, Climate and environmental policy.

Biography:

Chairman Joshua Epel has directed much of Colorado’s leadership in the U.S. Chairman Epel lead the effort to modernizing oil and gas regulations, as well as led the innovative approaches at DCP Midstream (the largest gas processing company in the United States).

For the past six years, Mr. Epel has had the responsibility for adapting to the rapidly changing fields of energy, transportation and telecommunications in Colorado and nationally. Mr. Epel also negotiated the ill-fated Cap and Trade program in Congress.
