Title: The global biodiversity policy, the COVID 19 pandemic, and national action
Abstract: In global policy, 2020 was tagged as "super-year" for biodiversity, with The UN Convention of Biodiversity planning to adopt a new ambitious strategic plan for the 2021-2030 decade. While the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the negotiations, it also brought to attention of the decision makers the interconnectivity of the biodiversity and the emerging diseases crises. I would like to discuss how these developments are reflected in Israel's governmental biodiversity policy and civil activism.
Speaker: Ana Trakhtenbrot is the head of Biodiversity Section at the Biodiversity and Open Spaces division, Israeli Ministry of Environmental Protection. One of the responsibilities of the division is developing Israel's National Action Plan for Biodiversity. She also represents Israel at the CBD negotiations.
