The climate crisis is related to traumatic events as experienced in nature including natural disasters, loss, illness, physical injury and migration, all of which have an impact on mental health, which is familiar.

However, the unique characteristics of the climate crisis as a series of different, frequently stressing events that may affect different parts of the world simultaneously, adding more impacts to our mental health and resiliency.

Our talk will address the implications of the ongoing traumatic experiences on our resiliency as individuals and as a community, including the role that media and leadership plays.

We will use examples from communities here in Israel and around the world that dealing with traumatic experiences including ongoing trauma and covid-19.

Rakefet Ginsburg

Rakefet Ginsburg holds a BA and MA in Social Work from the Tel Aviv University.

Over the past two decades, Rakefet has served as a facilitator in various organizations of mental health and Social Services in Israel and abroad. She served as NATAL’s Deputy Director of Community Outreach, consulting for communities, local, governments, and security establishments on Operational Stress Management, resiliency building and trauma-focused interventions.
